Will Munro hung his many skill sets on his meta skill as a social hub unto himself. He didn’t drink or do drugs but bopped around town sipping cola at every party, gig and art opening to gossip, flirt and hand out fliers. He had multiple parties on the go: the post punk “No T.O.” the electro, techno “Peroxide”. He became part owner of the Beaver Cafe which went from quaint brunch spot to packed out party jam nightly. The behemoth of Vazaleen was scaled back to the Halloween “Vazoween” and the Pride month “Shame” parties. Vazaleen ran biannually until Will Munro’s death from brain cancer May 21 2010. Will is only months older than me. While he was sick we dj’ed a friends party who had beat cancer. I didn’t know how to live except to think he too would beat cancer. Vazaleen is now thrown during Pride month by his brother Dave to raise funds for the Will Munro fund for queers living with cancer.
